Charissa: “They are extremely knowledgeable and understanding”
Discover a new, true testimony from one of the couples who underwent treatment at our fertility clinic in Spain.
Meet Charissa!
Tell us how you heard about URE Centro Gutenberg
Before we even thought about looking for a clinic to try for a baby a work mate from my partners office had mentioned to her about Gutenberg, and how great they were to her when she went for her check-ups while pregnant.
So once I heard about it I think them we checked the website out, ending up just making a appointment.
After your first appointment with us, what made you choose URE Centro Gutenberg?
When our appointment day came, we just wanted to come and have a chat to see what our opinions were and what kind of journey was ahead for us being a same-sex couple. When we first got in to the clinic the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which really calmed any anxiety we had.
During our appointment with the Doctor is why we picked Gutenberg to become a family. The Doctor was amazing, explained everything and answered all the questioned we had.
Once our first appointment everything just happened to be prefect timing for us, like the check up’s etc. We also picked Gutenberg cause of the results publish, clean and highly recommend by a colleague
Explain to other mothers what doubts you first had regarding assisted reproduction treatment
My doubts was how invasive the treatment could be as we have never done treatment before I was unsure 100% on how much I may have to go though.
I am also a massive worry head about medication, I personally don’t really take medication and I didn’t know how much I would have to take or the possible side effects of them.
I also had a lot of worry because I was told a few years before that I had Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). So I thought there would be a lot more work and a lot of medication involved.
What fertility treatment was recommended to you by the doctors? Artificial Insemination? In Vitro Fertilisation? Egg Donation?
I was recommend to have a Artificial Insemination (IUI) and we also used a sperm donation as we are a same -sex family.
What fears did you have? How did you overcome them? How did you feel during treatment?
I didn’t really have any fears, at my first appointment the Doctor really explained everything for me and cleared up a lot of fear I had on my PCOS and I was happy after that.
During treatment I was a little worried as I didn’t know how long it may take for me to actually get a positive test an how it may effect me seeing a negative, I overcame this by just being open minded and trying to stay calm.
What advice would you give to other mothers and couples who are considering fertility treatment?
Keep an open mind. I know it’s easier said than done, but if you just keep calm and not always thinking about it, it really helps.
After my treatment one of the nurses said to me that I just need to »carry on with daily life» (with in reason of course) and that really helped me a lot, as I wasn’t always thinking and worrying if I was pregnant or what the next step in treatment was. I also think that helped me lots in the long run when I found out I was pregnant.
Secondly, go and speak to them, consultation is free and they are extremely knowledgeable and understanding. They will offer the right treatment for your needs. We thought we needed IVF and actually they recommended IUI (which worked first time). No medication and a 10th of the cost.
