Isabel tells us her story. “15 years ago my dream of becoming a mother came true”

Today in our real stories section we have Isabel’s testimony for you. A patient and a loyal follower of our social networks, she’s always keeping an eye out for our posts and she brightens our mornings by sending us pictures of her little girl growing up. Her “little girl” who is already 15 years old today! Happy Birthday!!
Thank you so much, Isabel. We couldn’t have asked for a better gift during these strange and difficult times than sharing your joy. The joy is also ours given how proud we are to continue forming part of your family after all these years.
Here is your history!
Tell us how you heard about our fertility clinic in Spain
I heard about your clinic through a very close friend who had undergone treatment with you.
After your first appointment with us, what made you choose URE Centro Gutenberg?
I was completely convinced that this was the place where I was going to do this. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind, and today I only have words of thanks. I’ll always be so appreciative that you made our dreams come true. Thanks to your hard work to make sure that everything was easy and that the process was as pleasant as possible, I have fond memories of that time.
Today I can’t thank the clinic staff enough for the care we were given. I tell my daughter and I show her the pictures you post on Facebook and Instagram of the staff who was there before so that she can see who is responsible for her being here today. There is one more wish I have for her, which is for her to go and see the clinic, so someday I’ll take her.
Explain to future moms what doubts you first had regarding assisted reproduction treatment.
It’s always scary, and there are lots of fears and uncertainties. And that’s normal, but I saw that I was in the hands of experts and that gave me peace of mind. Attitude is also a factor, and I was really motivated and very positive.
What fertility treatment did the medical team recommend to you? Artificial insemination? In vitro fertilisation?
I have to say that I had already done my homework, so I already knew that I would need in vitro fertilisation.
What fears did you have, how did you overcome them, how did you feel during treatment…?
I’ll repeat that my fears were many. And doubts – I had all of them. Or, it’s just the opposite! What you feel, in addition to feeling happy because you’ve gotten pregnant, is the uncertainty of not knowing what can happen.
I in particular had a bumpy start – I had a hematoma in the uterus that wouldn’t stop bleeding. I was hospitalised for four days and was haemorrhaging, which was quite concerning, and I was really scared I would lose the baby. But with medication and rest I got better.
I have to say that although the beginning was traumatic, as soon as I saw that my baby was doing just fine I accepted that I just needed to rest. After that everything improved and I had a completely normal pregnancy, even a good pregnancy I’d say.
What advice would you give to other women and couples who are thinking about undergoing assisted reproduction treatment?
I’m not sure about advice. I guess I would tell them to look for a good team and to do everything the professionals tell them to do. I would also say that attitude is the most important thing, so they need to be ready and willing to fight for their dream. When having to deal with everything, positivity was essential in my case. It’s all worth it!
