RI Witness™ SURVEILLANCE AND TRACEABILITY SYSTEM

What is RI Witness™?

RI Witness™ is a surveillance system that protects patient samples (semen, oocytes or embryos), during each and every step of the Assisted Reproduction cycle.

It is an automated system that uses radio frequency identification chips attached to each sample to ensure safety and peace of mind throughout the process.

The system guides embryologists in their daily work, monitoring the movement of samples between culture plates and tubes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although we have always had very strict control protocols in our laboratories, this system provides us with greater security, ensuring that there is no margin for error

How does the RI Witness™ sample identifier work?

At the moment treatment is started, an identification card is created and given to the patient. This card is inserted into the readers and allows us to progress through each treatment, only when the patient’s card is identified can the next step be taken.

The radiofrequency receivers automatically check the identity of the samples to ensure that they match. If this is not the case, the system sends an acoustic and visual alarm to the professional who is carrying out the process at that moment and blocks the work, preventing it from going any further.
